Welcome to the Wonderful World of Radnor Crew!
For those of you who are veterans, you've been bitten by the bug and are hooked, you have our utmost respect – it takes a tremendous amount of discipline and energy to row six days a week. For those fresh faces in the crowd, you are about to begin a new, different, unpredictable and always exciting experience – one that is likely to leave a lasting positive impact on your life.
The Radnor Girls Crew Club offers both fall and spring crew for Radnor High School students, as well as a summer Learn-to-Row Camp for all new rowers.
- Fall Crew: Enjoy autumn on the river. The fall season may feature fewer competitions, but it’s a great opportunity to hone your skills and get in shape for the highly competitive spring season. Fall competitions consist of head races, where boats are started sequentially and timed against other boats starting at different times.
- Winter Training: If you’re not participating in a winter sport, this is your opportunity to prepare for regatta season beginning in mid-March.
- Spring Crew: The spring is when the head-to-head competitions start. From the first competition in mid-March through to Nationals on Memorial Day weekend, Radnor Crew is ready to rule the river!
- Learn-to-Row Camp: The Learn-to-Row Camp is geared toward rising high-schoolers and novice rowers looking to learn the basics before the fall season starts. Here’s more information
The RGCC is proud to be able to offer a limited amount of need-based financial assistance to qualified rowers.
Fall
Fall crew offers both Freshman/Novice and Varsity/JV options. There are no try-outs for fall crew. If you are not participating in another fall sport, you are more than welcome to join the fall program. The fall season is an important opportunity for rowers to hone their skills and prepare for the spring racing season. Here’s more information.
For athletes participating in another fall sport, we offer the opportunity to participate in less formal Sunday Swings (two-hour practices on the river). For more information,
contact our coaching staff or find the dates on our
calendar.
Winter
Winter training kicks off the beginning of the spring season, immediately following winter break. Athletes participating in winter sports are encouraged to join in winter training as frequently as possible. Winter practices will take place Tuesdays through Saturdays most of January and February.
Spring
Most of our regattas occur during the spring season, mostly on the Schuylkill River near Boathouse Row. RGCC participates in all of the major regattas, including the nationally recognized Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the largest high school rowing event in the world. We compete in the Varsity, Junior Varsity, Novice and Freshmen events. Varsity letters are awarded during the spring season. Here’s more information.
